A selection of music and game soundtracks.

"Still, again" is the title track of the student project 3D video game "still". To capture the feeling of the old, dark but elegant house the game is set in, real violin recordings as well as sampled strings from the Cremona Quartet by Native Instruments were used. The melody should evoke a somewhat tragic but curious feeling, capturing the essence of being a child. For more information about the videogame "still" , its story and game mechanics, visit the main portfolio site.

"Whispers" is the title track of a student project 3D video game called "Sleepless Nights". It combines cold, industrial elements with paranoid whispers, choirs, falling synths, the sound of waves and clicking sounds. The game´s concept is similar to that of "Observation Duty" and "Five Nights at Freddy´s". Players find themselves in a dark room, equipped with nothing but a flashlight, looking around to see objects transforming into monsters. The title track reflects the feeling of not being alone, of loud and unpleasant noise and something sinister hiding in the dark.

"Lievi lacrime" was created for the credits of the short film "Was du willst" made by a family member. Its focus were hard, analog elements and sounds, a raspy, realistic violin with a solemn, steady pulse. The trance-like and unpredictable feeling of the various instrments was inspired by the movie credit music of the film "November" by Rainer Sarnet.

"Styx ´N Bones" is the very light-hearted title track of a student project 2D videogame called "Styx ´N Bones", a simple jump and run platformer. The game is set in the greek underworld with cutesy aesthetics. The player collects lost souls with the ultimate goal of helping them cross the river Styx into the underworld. The track pairs percussive elements with a flute, kithara, gong and choir.

"Space Walk" is the in-game soundtrack of the student project 2D game "Space Walk" made in 2022. The game centers a little astronaut exploring a giant, abanoned spaceship, on a quest to escape. The track pairs distant, soft strings with more bubbly, water-like elements to bring about the feeling of floating in space. Comforting but with a slight hint of melancholy at the same time, the music guides the player through the game.

"A Last Goodbye" is the outro track of the game "Space Walk". The track begins in a soft, comforting way, reflecting the floating feeling of space and makes its way through the stars to sound a bit more melancholic. It was meant to symbolize a goodbye that´s not easy to say - with tons of comforting, good memories to last but a melancholic feeling overall. To stay true to the aesthetic of the game, the track uses the same instruments and musical scales as the title track - with slightly broader string sounds.

INTR - Sound Design

"INTR" was created as part of a brand image pitch for a  Livestreaming event.
I was in charge of the sound design and also took on the role of Creative Director for the event as a whole.

INTR stands for "inter" (connected) and symbolizes fusion between contrasting styles; between pixel and paint, green and purple, symbols and letters and art and technology.

Fictional Movie Intro

"Akai Ito" (japanese for the red string of fate) came about as part of a student project to make a fictional movie opener. I chose the medium of frame by frame animation.

Fictional Movie Outro

This outro music was part of a student project to practice VFX and Sound Design techniques.
I was responsible for sound and music.

Sound and Music for Animation

The Animation Jam 2024  is part of a student event that tasks students to create animations fitting a provided theme within a time frame of 36 hours.

Our team ("Wertlose Milch") chose a bizarre, surrealistic story as a metaphor for something greater, darker and sinister, following the theme "fish-eyed".

(Spoiler: The ocean in this animation signifies pending, unavoidable death - and the gigantic fish its symptoms.)
