Concept

"Still" is a sound puzzle game that combines the visuals of an old, once expensive house with a tragic story told through sound. The main character - a child - is alone at home and roams through an empty, dark and lonely house, completing 4 puzzles in 3 different rooms.
A foley scene plays - the player has to discern what is happening and interact with objects in the correct order.

We started with picking out an aesthetic for what we wanted the house to look like and got started on story, game design and mechanics of the sound puzzles soon afterwards.
As the main 3D artist, I quickly got to collecting and creating my own references for the design of the rooms, the furniture and the texturing.

Dark green, rich tapestry, mahagoni wood, lots of gold and an overall dark feel.

Making the game
I modeled and textured the whole house (excluding 2 rooms) within the course of 3 months. Towards the end, I retextured another team member´s room to fit the vision of the game.
I was also in charge of modeling, texturing, rigging and animating the player character.
Additionally, I recorded and edited the sound puzzle and foley scenes with the help of another team member and composed both the title and the end screen track.
Parts of the soundtrack include recordings from the violin of a team member.
